One of the highlights for us, in a night full of highlights, at last night's wonderful Selling Dreams opening at Auckland Museum was seeing our good friend Aaron Ward for the first time in a few years. Aaron went to New York as a dreadlocked teen many moons ago and forged a hugely successful career as a model and creative in the Big Apple. He would have almost certainly been the only person at the event last night that had actually been shot by legends like Arthur Elgort and Irving Penn and most certainly would been the only person there who had at one point been a global face of Calvin Klein. Not one to rest on his laurels, Aaron has teamed with world class photographer Greg Kadel to launch a brilliant new magazine in New York called Let's Panic. Dedicated to some of the great traditions of print publishing and championing the purest cause of creativity, Let's Panic #1 features some big names; Kadel, John Waters, Catherine McNeil, Bob Recine, Malgosia Bela, Kemp Muhl and Bill Mullen among esteemed others. The magazine to date has just one 'sponsorship' partner, Pirelli, which perhaps says it all about the quality of Let's Panic. Looking forward to having a korero with Aaron for BLK #21 while he is here...
