We started day three of MBFWA offsite at Swift’s; a historic mansion in picturesque Darling Point which was the setting for the Macgraw Resort ’19 show and also a key part of the inspiration behind Beth and Tessa Macgraw’s collection. ‘We always design with a girl in mind and were inspired by the woman who would reside at Swifts in its heyday. The Macgraw girl has always been unapologetic about her choices but now more so than ever; austere yet mysterious, alluring yet bold.’ The collection included key silhouettes from the brand; long line jackets and floor length smock dresses were revisited in lighter fabrications for the warm Resort months and tailored separates were shown in a fresh floral print. The balance across the collection was beautifully executed, with great separates pieces that will work across day to day dressing, as well as feminine event attire. Macgraw debuted their accessories collection with this show, which along with their satin ballet slippers, were the perfect compliment to the garments.
Byron Turnbull directed the hair look, and created a ‘homage to heritage’ with full, rich curls on each girl. Segments of hair were twisted back and fastened at the nape of the neck with a hair accessory. The hair gave a youthful yet opulent feel to the overage look. Makeup was directed by Lara Srokowski for Lancome and featured fresh and dewy skin, with a flushed cheek and pink lips.
