The Workshop Denim AW 14 guy, or girl, isn’t necessarily headed outdoors but with camo prints, hand-dyed natural indigo, warm and cosy duffel coats, cashmere and merino knits and quilted blazers in the offering, outdoors isn’t just easy, it’s smart. There is a return to some of the organic and natural textile exploration which has marked the brand’s development over the years as a company at the forefront of utilitarian design and production. Perhaps most notable is the establishment of a formal working partnership with a traditional hand-dyed indigo dying facility in an ancient village, just outside Shanghai in China. After all, indigo, for founder Chris Cherry, is a passion which comes from a very deep well indeed.
