Romance Was Born created yet another magical experience with their Resort ’19 presentation hosted over dinner at Restaurant Hubert. The ‘Opal Goddess’ collection was a collaboration with long time friend of the brand, Australian artist and design icon Jenny Kee, and featured prints from Jenny’s archive - ‘rainbow opal designs and silk collages with almighty female icons, from Gaia to Aphrodite, exploring female divinity.’ Stylist Peter Simon Phillips worked with a diverse range of accessories to pull together each look - shoes by Repetto, jewellery by Canturi, embellished theatre gloves and custom headpieces created by Phoebe Hyles for the brand.

The hair and makeup looks were designed to suit each of the fifteen models. The first makeup look designed by key artist Peter Beard featured a strong gunmetal graphic eye, with hints of color against fresh, clean skin and a softly stained pink lip. Other girls wore a bejewelled line along both eyelids with a stained red lip, and the final look was a smattering of stars across the nose and top of the cheeks.

Renya Xydis ‘chanelled goddesses across multiple looks’ and created fantastical hair shapes that complimented that rich fantasy of the collection perfectly. A soft curl was created for many of the models who wore elaborate headpieces, while others had their natural curly texture enhanced with gold stars. A hero style was the twisted top knot with strands of hair slicked against the forehead and finished with gold glitter.
